About WCAM Day

World Calligraphy as Meditation (WCAM) Day is a global celebration inviting individuals everywhere to slow down, breathe deeply, and create mindfully through the art of calligraphy. Founded by Jill Burk of Calligraphy Crush Magazine, and Angie Bailey of Calming Calligraphy, WCAM Day is a movement dedicated to promoting creativity as a pathway to healing, focus, and inner peace.

How you can participate in World CAM Day

Throughout the day, calligraphers from all around the world will be hosting their own “rooms”, each with a unique theme. You can find the complete list of 2025 sessions here. When you find a session that resonates with you, click the sign up button to receive instructions of how to join that meeting at that time on WCAM Day.

Join Angie on WCAMD 2025

While I’m excited for you to participate in any (and as many!) rooms you can, I would be OVER THE MOON to see you in my specific session! It will be held live on Zoom at 9AM PDT on Saturday, June 21, 2025. Though I’ll be working with watercolor and paintbrush, you can follow along with any writing utensils you choose.

The theme I’ve chosen for my session this year is Growth Mindset. As a former classroom teacher (and a mama of two), one of my greatest joys is helping others learn to celebrate their growth, not a fixed outcome. I truly hope you can join me for this uplifting session emphasizing the importance of process over final product.

Supply List for Angie’s Watercolor Calligraphy Session

If you do opt to follow along in the same medium as me, here’s a supply list you can get working on in preparation for the big day!

  • 140lb watercolor paper (I prefer cold-pressed over hot-pressed or rough)
  • Watercolor paint
  • Round paintbrush, about size 2/0
  • Rinse jar
    • Water to rinse your brush out in and activate your palette (if you don’t have a dropper)
  • Mixing palette of some sort
    • If your paints don’t come with an attached mixing palette, you can use a little ceramic dish or a plastic palette from the dollar store
  • Water dropper (optional)
    • Since the brush we’re using is so small, I find it easier to activate my paints with a water dropper (see photo above)
